Senior Principal Accountant Chicago, US



Manage all aspects of domestic and international general ledger accounting, consolidations, fixed asset accounting and equity accounting. Including, but not limited to the monthly close and internal reporting responsibility for multiple environments. Responsible for various accounting and reporting tasks associated with the international entities that Scientific Games Interactive operates, including the month end general ledger close process. This includes analyzing, understanding and reconciling various general ledger accounts as well as preparing, reviewing and entering journal entries. Interact with and review the accounting and closing processes performed by accounting staff based in North America, Sweden and Gibraltar. Ensure appropriate treatment for revenue (including virtual currency), bad debt, accrual and expense accounting for all SGI entities. Primarily focused on the RMG side of the business, with limited – but growing – interaction and oversight of the Social side of the business. Work closely with SGI and corporate finance to ensure all is aligned between the companies.

Essential Job Functions: 

• Coordinate and manage the entire accounting close and consolidations, including domestic and international locations.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international accounting principles for all assigned entities. Propose changes to SGI process necessary to comply with changes in the international environment.
• Review results of International month end general ledger close process.
• Participate in the setup of new SGI Legal entities. 
• Prepare detailed general ledger account reconciliation.
• Prepare detailed financial analysis reports for International entities.
• Coordinate preparation and completion of local statutory audits, internal audits, communicating directly with auditors.
• Partner with the global financial reporting staff to ensure timely reporting of the consolidated units’ financials and assist in the preparation of subsidiary and other financial statements and reports. 
• Partner with financial analysis group to assist with budgeting, strategic planning and forecasting and reconciling actual results to forecasts and budgets. 
• Participate in key strategy deployment initiatives. 
• Responsible for mentorship, evaluations, conflict resolution and recognition of the staff to maintain highly motivated and engaged employees.

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Review of account reconciliations and key accounting schedules.

Position Requirements 

Qualifications: 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance required; CPA required

Required Experience: 

• 6+ years of progressive experience in general accounting, finance or auditing in a multiple entity international environment

Preferred Experience: 

• Public Accounting experience
• Experience working with multi-locations, including international 
• Working with Online/Internet based companies and business models

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Exceptional accounting and analytical skills, lean accounting experience a plus
• Strong general accounting knowledge and experience in an automated multiple entity environment
• Demonstrated ability to work with senior management to effect positive change
• Demonstrated ability to focus on procedure and process change
• Knowledge of Oracle, Business Objects or other reporting tools
• Excellent oral and written presentation skills
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP and SOX 404
• Highest ethical standards and leadership qualities
• Ability to work collaboratively in group situations
• Desire and ability to work within tight timeframes and meet reporting deadlines
• Process and control focused, demonstrated record of implementing change and new technologies
